Here is a run-down of the top exhibitions throughout December…

  1. What on Earth?!

Go through time and look back at the showcase of amazing natural history collection of Sheffield. In Close to Home take a look at the animals that used to live on the Sheffield moor, and even in your own homes! This exhibition has everything for all you nature lovers, whether that’s looking at ant and beehive colonies or exploring the ecosystem. This is something different to keep the family entertained.

  1. Handmade for Christmas

The Millennium Gallery is showcasing some amazing handmade crafts that have been designed innovatively combined with traditional techniques. There are gifts from jewellery, ceramics, prints and much more. The best thing about this is that it supports all the British artists and designers and is an alternative to the high street. So avoid the Christmas rush and take a look around to pick up some fascinating gifts for Christmas.

  1. All things Metal

Sheffield’s metal collection is one of the finest in the world, with over 1300 pieces on display, displaying great craftsmanship and brilliant design from past British designers. A personal favourite being the Old Sheffield Plate Turtle, it is truly a wonderful experience to go and see at the Millennium Gallery.

  1. Picturing Sheffield

If you want to know more about Sheffield’s past then this exhibition is displaying Sheffield in pictures over the festive period and beyond. It compares the difference between views and the identity of the people who lived there. A truly fascinating experience to see the Steel City in all its glory.

  1. Prints of War

The Graves gallery puts on a honourable display by Joseph Pennell which shows the power and scale of the First World War munitions works. It captures the major industrial changes within the country through fascinating lithograph prints.



Anything Goes Theatre Skills Workshop at the Crucible

If you’re a budding stage performer and want to put yourself in good stead in this tough industry then look no further, as the lovely performers from Anything Goes at The Crucible are providing all you Sheffield lot with a theatre skills workshop. You will find out how to put a production together, whether that’s staging, props and so forth, and how to put this into practice through song and tap! The workshop is Saturday 13th December and is open to all you rising stars. Tickets £15.
